CHALK (YOUR) WALK
APRIL 3-12, 2021 | KNOXVILLE, TN
This virtual, community-wide event encourages artists of all ages to create one-of-a-kind chalk artworks on neighborhood sidewalks, driveways, and community spaces! The competition is open to individual artists and families throughout Knoxville and the surrounding counties. Chalk (Your) Walk is sponsored by ORNL Federal Credit Union, First Horizon Bank, the Slocum Foundation, the Tennessee Arts Commission, Jerry's Artarama of Knoxville, and Jim & Becky Dodson.
REGISTRATION OPENS MONDAY, MARCH 1ST AT 10AM
LEAVE YOUR MARK
The first 500 artists/families who register for the event will receive a free 48-count box of Koss Chalk Pastels to create their artwork! Everyone can participate in the event by chalking at home and sharing your work on social media, but you must register by Friday, April 2nd in order to be eligible for awards. A panel of judges including civic leaders, professional artists, and art educators will review the submissions and award cash prizes and free art supplies to select artists in each age division.

2020 CHALK (YOUR) WALK EVENT
The Chalk (Your) Walk Competition took place in neighborhoods all across the country from April 4-12th! We missed being together in Market Square this year,
but one thing is certain. Just like sidewalk chalk, with
time the current crisis will fade. Keep being creative and sharing your talents––even if it’s just with the people in your neighborhood for now. We’ll be together again soon!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
MIKE BERRY
Considered a versatile painter who works in vibrant colors, bringing energy and rhythm to each work, Mike Berry creates urban compositions that bend and twist the cityscapes that have become his identifiable style. His paintings consist of gestural brushstrokes and pure bright color. He credits the work of Wolf Kahn, Edward Hopper, and Knoxville artist, Joseph Delaney for encouraging his use color, line and the cityscape as subject matter.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
SARAH MOORE
Tennessee-based artist Sarah Moore makes paintings that are invitations into wild places. Her creative practice is rooted in her memories of a rural childhood roaming forests, fields, and rivers, and influenced by time spent exploring landscapes in 28 countries. Through her work and wanderings, she has sought to understand humans’ innate, culture-spanning need to connect with nature.

ARTISTS LEAVE THEIR MARK ON DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE
In a normal year, thousands of art lovers head downtown each year to experience this live art competition. Chalk Walk traditionally features over 150 artists and collaborative teams working on site from 8am-7pm to complete their artwork. Cash prizes and ribbons are awarded to select artists who have created imaginative and inspiring artworks in their age division.
