

HIKES & BLOOMS
Whether on a greenway through a historic park or on a natural trail through the woods, you will observe historic relics and beautiful wildflowers among the dogwood trees at Hikes & Blooms! The interactive hikes will highlight interesting facts, features, and flora in the unique locations. Hikers should wear comfortable clothing and bring any water or snacks you might need.

Norris State Park - Norris River Bluff Trail

Easy 3 mile hike; hiking poles recommended. The River Bluff Trail is one of the best spring wildflower hikes in the area. There are huge masses of trout lilies, purple phacelia, hepatic, spring beauties, several types of trillium, twinleaf, violets, celandine poppy, and many other early spring blooms.

Directions - Take I-75 to Exit 122. Turn right on Hwy 61, then left on Hwy 441. The Lenoir Museum (green building) is located on the right (restrooms available here). Cross the dam and take second road on left; immediately turn left again on to the road for the River Bluff TVA Small Wild Area which will wind down to the parking area and trailhead. Meet at Trail head at 10:00

Dogwood Arts Hike at Seven Islands

Join park staff for a guided hike along the trails of Seven Islands State Birding Park! Participants will learn about the conservation efforts at the park focused on birds and native plants. The hike will be an easy-moderate difficulty 2.5-mile hike. This is a free hike, but if you would like to donations to the park are welcome! This hike will leave the Bluebird Barn area at 10:00am. Please bring bottled water for yourself and comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.

Discover new routes on these family friendly bike rides through scenic neighborhoods and on local greenways. Riders must wear helmets and have a basic understanding of on-road riding. Riders should wear comfortable clothing and bring any water or snacks you might need.

Focusing on the idea of stepping out into our community, the trails are at least one-mile in length and folks are encouraged to walk, run, or bike these trails.
